On August 31, 2016 (81 FR 60026), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) published a notice in the federal register to propose revising its public meeting policy by further clarifying and enhancing participation in public meetings conducted by the NRC. The revised policy statement redefines the three (3) categories of public meetings and identifies the level of public participation offered at each type of meeting. The revised policy statement also clarifies notification expectations for meetings that include physical presence in the meeting room and meetings that rely solely on remote access technology such as a teleconferencing. The proposed revisions will improve the consistency of the NRC’s public meetings and help participants better prepare for NRC meetings. Please submit comments by November 14, 2016. Comments received after this date will be considered if it is practical to do so, but the Commission is able to ensure consideration only for comments received on or before this date.
