On November 02, 2021 (86 FR 60462), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published a request for information in the federal register asking the public to comment on the need to establish centers of excellence to address research and practice needs in the area of personal protective technology (PPT), including personal protective equipment (PPE). NIOSH is exploring the establishment of centers of excellence dedicated to advancing PPT and serving as knowledge hubs where experts from multiple disciplines, industry representatives, and other interested parties/groups collaborate on PPT research and practice. NIOSH is seeking input on three (3) broad focus areas and eight (8) questions. Comments must be received by January 31, 2022.
