On September 25, 2018 (83 FR 48393), the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration n (PHMSA) published a final rule in the federal register in coordination with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) to remove requirements pertaining to electronically controlled pneumatic brake systems on high-hazard flammable unit trains. This final action is based on the Department of Transportation’s determination that the requirements are not economically justified. This final rule is effective September 25, 2018.
