On July 09, 2019 (84 FR 32632), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a final rule in the federal register revising the current dust-lead hazard standards (DLHS) in 40 CFR Part 745 from 40 micrograms/squared foot on floors and 250 micrograms/squared foot to 10 micrograms/squared foot and 100 micrograms/squared foot on window sills. EPA is also finalizing its proposal to make no change to the definition of lead-based paint (LBP) because insufficient information exists to support such a change at this time. One priority of EPA is to reduce childhood lead exposure by evaluating and revising the DLHS and the definition of LBP as needed. This final rule is effective January 6, 2020.
