On April 25, 2019 (84 FR 17345), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a final rule in the federal register to ensure that any discontinued uses of asbestos under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), cannot reenter the marketplace without EPA review, closing a loophole in the regulatory regime for asbestos in 40 CFR Parts 9 and 721. This final rule is effective June 24, 2019.
